Children dentistry
Children’s dentistry is all about creating positive experiences and building healthy habits from an early age. At our clinic, we focus on gentle, age-appropriate care that includes both prevention and treatment. We guide children in proper oral hygiene through fun and educational sessions that encourage lifelong dental health. Our team treats milk teeth with special care, understanding their role in guiding the proper development of permanent teeth. We also monitor and manage bite development, offering early control and correction of bite issues to ensure optimal jaw alignment and a healthy smile as your child grows. With a warm, supportive approach, we help children feel safe, confident, and happy at the dentist.
Healthy teeth from childhood
The eruption of the first milk teeth typically begins between 6 months and 1 year of age, marking an important milestone in a child’s development. This teething process varies from child to child and can sometimes be quite uncomfortable or even painful. By the time most children reach the age of 3, they usually have a full set of 20 milk teeth, which serve as placeholders for the permanent teeth that will emerge later. The replacement process begins around age 6, when permanent teeth start to push out the milk teeth, and this continues until about 17 to 18 years of age when the last permanent teeth usually come in.
It is highly recommended for children to have timely consultations with an orthodontist because the formation of anomalies in the dentoalveolar system often starts early and can go unnoticed by parents. These irregularities may result from various causes such as bad habits like thumb sucking, improper breathing and swallowing patterns, genetic predispositions, and other environmental factors. As these disorders develop and the child grows, occlusal pathologies—that is, problems with the way the upper and lower teeth come together—tend to worsen, making treatment more complex and prolonged. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial to managing these conditions effectively, minimizing discomfort, and ensuring proper development of the jaw and teeth alignment. Regular orthodontic check-ups allow for timely detection and correction, helping children achieve a healthy, functional bite and a confident smile as they grow.
In addition to professional care, parents play a vital role in supporting their child’s oral health by encouraging good habits at home. Teaching children to brush and floss properly, limiting sugary snacks and drinks, and fostering a positive attitude toward dental visits can all contribute significantly to preventing future orthodontic issues. The combination of early orthodontic assessment and consistent at-home care creates the best foundation for strong, healthy teeth and a well-aligned bite, which can prevent the need for more invasive treatments later in life.
